Monthly General Meetings
Redwood Terrace - Dittus Hall

We meet the third Wednesdays of each month, except August, at the Redwood Terrace - Dittus Hall. Our meetings begin at 7:00 pm and usually end around 9:00 pm. There will be a guest speaker, presentation, or some kind of activity as well as refreshments. We hope to see you there!

General Meeting - Guest Speaker

Gene Ciancanelli presents The Evolution of Life Through Geologic Time

Wednesday, February 20, 7:00 pm

Gene Ciancanelli will discuss the evolution of animals and plants during the various geologic periods in the earth’s history. Factors, such as climate, atmospheric chemistry, plate tectonics, volcanism, etc., that influence evolution and extinction events will be discussed. The Palomar Gem and Mineral Club’s collection of fossil specimens will be displayed and used during the lecture. The Palomar Gem and Mineral Club’s fossil, rock, and mineral collections are made available for the teaching of earth science in local area schools. Teachers, interested in using these materials, can contact Gene at 760-489-0969.
